Tahiti Tourism Attendance Up 127 In July 2018

first_imgIn July 2018, the tourist attendance of French Polynesia increased by 12.7% compared to July 2017, reveals the Institute of Statistics (ISPf) in its monthly count.During this period, 24,168 tourists stayed in our islands, including more than 20,000 in terrestrial accommodation. Even more significant, the number of metropolitans far exceeds that of North Americans, 7380 versus 6443 arrivals respectively. This increase is the result of a sharp increase in the number of tourists on land (+ 15%) and a stability in the number of tourists accommodated in floating accommodation. The holding of the world canoe championships as well as the additional tourist flows related to the development of international air transport (French Bee effect) explain this progression which feeds both commercial and non-commercial accommodation. The number of tourist nights increased by 20% in relation to the rise in attendance and that of the average length of stay (+ 1 day).Since January, French Polynesia has welcomed 120,710 tourists, an increase of 6.7% over the previous year. The increase is due exclusively to the growth in cruise ship numbers, with the number of land tourists remaining stable. The number of overnight stays increased by 12.6% to 1,777,000 overnight stays.(Source: ISPF – Statistical Institute of Tahiti 18 September 2018)The post Tahiti Tourism Attendance Up 12.7% In July 2018 appeared first on Discover the South Pacific.Source: Bloglast_img read more
